Case Study

The OEMV GNSS receiver features NovAtel's next generation ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) as well as the latest in multipath mitigation technology. This combination results in powerful and precise positioning functionality in three different form factors: the OEMV-1/1G, the OEMV-2, and the OEMV-3 to meet the popular integration needs of OEM customers. All of the receivers in NovAtel's OEMV family offer our proprietary AdVance™ RTK for real-time kinematic solutions and support for Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS).

NovAtel's OEMV-1 receiver offers single frequency GPS with integrated L-Band tracking for the CDGPS and OmniSTAR correction services. The OEMV-1G hardware platform offers single frequency GPS+GLONASS tracking. Both platforms offer GL1DE™ technology, and the OEMV-1G also offers ALIGN™ technology and RT-2® L1TE for single-frequency AdVance RTK. The OEMV-1 and OEMV-1G receivers are available as a standalone card, in a FlexPak enclosure, and in a SMART antenna. The small form-factor and low power consumption are ideal for system integrators in a wide variety of precise positioning applications and markets.

NovAtel's OEMV-2 is a dual frequency GPS + GLONASS receiver, which features NovAtel's AdVance RTK and ALIGN in a small, low power size. The OEMV-2 is available as a standalone card or in a FlexPak enclosure. The OEMV-2 receiver is backward compatible, and was designed as a drop in replacement for the previous generation of OEM4-G2L products.

NovAtel's OEMV-3 GNSS receiver is a triple frequency board that includes AdVance RTK and ALIGN technologies. L2C and GLONASS measurements and positions are available as well as hardware support for the future L5 GPS frequency. The OEMV-3 card is also available in a ProPak-V3 or DL-V3 enclosure. The OEM-V3 receiver is backward compatible, and was designed as a drop in replacement for the previous generation of OEM4-G2 products.

Proprietary Technology

AdVance RTK

NovAtel's AdVance RTK technology delivers significant performance enhancements, including a lower ambiguity error rate and faster narrow lane convergence on short, medium, and long baselines. AdVance RTK enables users to work more reliably and efficiently in a wider range of conditions. NovAtel's GNSS OEMV-1, OEMV-1G, OEMV-2 and OEMV-3 receivers are available with the AdVance RTK receiver.

RT-2 is the premier solution, available on dual-frequency receivers for GPS-only or GPS+GLONASS applications, and offers centimeter-level positioning accuracy for baseline lengths of 40 kilometers or more. RT-2 L1TE was designed for single-frequency GPS+GLONASS applications for centimeter-level accuracy for baselines up to 3 kilometers.

GL1DE

NovAtel's GL1DE technology provides consistent, repeatable positions for pass-to-pass applications. It optimally combines L1 code and L1 phase data to produce a positioning solution well suited for applications such as agricultural guidance, where pass-to-pass repeatability is important. GL1DE's user friendly output maximizes firmware efficiency and customer return-on-investment. All OEMV products are available with the GL1DE technology.

ALIGN

ALIGN is NovAtel's heading solution, providing users with heading information, including distance, bearing, and pitch between two receiver and antenna setups. This feature is ideal for customers wanting relative directional heading, separation heading between two bodies, or heading information with moving base and pointing applications. ALIGN technology is available on OEMV-1G, OEMV-2, and OEMV-3 receivers.

GNSS Signals

GPS Modernization

The OEMV receiver offers 14 channel "all-in-view" tracking for both L1 and L2 bands. Support for the L2C signal is standard on our dual frequency boards to ensure future compatibility as more satellites are upgraded. In addition, the OEMV-3 receiver includes hardware support for the future L5 GPS frequency.

GLONASS

NovAtel's latest ASIC, used on our OEMV receivers, supports GLONASS to augment GPS positioning availability and accuracy. The OEMV-1G, OEMV-2 and OEMV-3 boards are available with GLONASS position and measurement capability. NovAtel's GPS+GLONASS positioning technology provides significant improvement in satellite coverage. This enables reliable positioning and precise navigation even in obstructed environments where GPS only receivers may be limited by poor satellite availability.

Integrated L-band

The OEMV ASIC integrates L-band functionality directly. Users can apply OmniSTAR or CDGPS correction services from the OEMV-1 and OEMV-3 receivers, minimizing additional hardware, size, cost and complexity.

RoHS Compliance
